My client is a global insurance carrier headquartered out of Massachusetts. In the U.S. they do both personal and commercial lines. They are rapidly expanding their team and have had aggressive growth plans over the last few years. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead their Modeling Actuarial team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop pricing models in alignment with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of Actuarial Analysts and Actuaries to ensure accurate and timely completion of models and projects.
- Drive the evolution of predictive models to meet organizational needs, ensuring changes are implemented effectively.
- Advocate for modeling insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead foundational changes to improve modeling processes, defining requirements, scope, and implementation plans.
- Provide training and development opportunities to team members, supporting career growth and CAS credential pursuits.
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in actuarial roles within insurance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Proficiency in SAS or SQL; experience with Emblem, Earnix, R, Radar, or Python.
- Comprehensive understanding of insurance operations, accounting, and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with policy administration and claims adjustment processes.
- Strong background in quantitative analysis for insurance or similar industries.
- Experience developing predictive models using GLMs.
- Ability to manage data sources and build complex processes from inception.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, standards, and concepts.
- Understanding of reinsurance and its implications.
- General knowledge of capital and risk management.
Preferred:
- ACAS credential or MBA.
- 1-2 years of managerial experience overseeing actuarial teams.
