Title: Commercial Renewal Underwriting Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a Commercial Lines Renewal Underwriting Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage one or two underwriting units within the Commercial Lines Underwriting Department. You will be responsible for planning and monitoring the timely and accurate completion of the unit's responsibilities, ensuring the acceptability and profitability of the business produced by the agencies assigned to the underwriters, and taking corrective actions when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage one or two underwriting units within the Commercial Lines Underwriting Department.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of unit responsibilities.
- Monitor and ensure the profitability of business produced by assigned agencies.
- Provide technical underwriting direction and assistance with complex functions and risks.
- Implement system and procedure changes to improve department effectiveness and accuracy.
- Oversee career development of staff.
- Ensure adherence to established underwriting guidelines and standards.
- Coordinate preparation and distribution of informational materials for agencies.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Business Development, Claims, IT, and other departments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience preferred.
- 9-11 years of experience, or a Master's Degree with 7-9 years of experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts.
- Strong management and decision-making skills.
- Experience in influencing long-range goals and modifying operating policies.
- Proven leadership abilities, managing high-level employees and multiple functions.
- Prior underwriting supervisory or management experience (minimum 3 years).
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas.
- Working knowledge of rate setting, product management, IT, policy services, and communications.
