Job Description: Associate - Direct Lending

Position Overview:
The Associate will play a critical role in the origination, underwriting, execution, and monitoring of direct lending investments. Working closely with senior team members, you will evaluate investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, and contribute to the ongoing management of the portfolio. This position provides significant exposure to all facets of middle-market growth financing and offers a pathway for professional development in a high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Evaluation:
- Analyze potential investment opportunities, including financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and return assessment.
- Conduct thorough industry research to assess market trends, competitive positioning, and growth potential.
- Prepare detailed investment memos and presentations for internal investment committees.
Due Diligence:
- Participate in comprehensive due diligence processes, including reviewing financial statements, meeting with management teams, and assessing operational and legal risks.
- Coordinate with external advisors, including accountants, consultants, and legal teams, to facilitate diligence efforts.
Deal Execution:
- Assist in structuring and negotiating transaction terms, including credit agreements and related documentation.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure alignment with regulatory and internal guidelines.
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor portfolio investments by tracking financial performance, covenant compliance, and industry developments.
- Provide ongoing support to portfolio companies, including amendment negotiations and strategic decision-making.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the 12-person direct lending team, contributing to a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.
- Support senior professionals in client interactions and relationship management.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, private credit, leveraged finance, or related fields.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information effectively.
- A detail-oriented mindset with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for investing in middle-market companies.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field required; CFA designation or progress is a plus.
