Job Title: Director, Asset Management Team
Reports To: CFO and various Investment Committees
Base Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000
Location: New York City (Hybrid)
Company Overview:
An alternative asset manager investing across credit and equity assets globally is seeking a Director for its Asset Management Team. The firm focuses on generating compelling returns in capacity-constrained strategies while maintaining a client-centric approach. The firm is building a global structured credit (traded) and specialty finance (private) business, providing a comprehensive, integrated platform for public and private investment opportunities across a range of securitized and other asset-based credits.
Role Summary:
The Director will oversee the asset servicing functions of both private credit and public/traded strategies. This includes handling corporate actions, commitment tracking, P&I remittance for structured products, and valuation of assets. The role provides significant visibility across the firm, including interactions with portfolio managers, investment and valuation committees, trading desks, counterparties, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Private Credit:
- Oversee financial operations for private credit strategies.
- Conduct operational due diligence (ODD) on deals and present assessments to the Investment Committee.
- Supervise loan servicers and other service providers for transaction modeling, cash flow calculations, contractual projections, covenant tracking, collateral performance monitoring, and eligibility rules.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly valuations, including gathering market quotations and coordinating with third-party valuation providers.
- Support restructuring efforts as needed.
- Manage reporting on platforms like iLevel.
- Oversee capital activity, including draws and fundings.
- Assist with fee calculations and processing.
Public Credit:
- Develop and manage internal valuation processes for traded asset-backed securities (ABS).
- Collaborate with investment teams, dealers, and third-party valuation agents to secure quotes and pricing.
- Manage pricing source hierarchy and conduct periodic due diligence on pricing providers.
- Present findings to the valuation committee.
Additional Duties:
- Participate in special projects aimed at process improvement and problem-solving.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of public and private asset-backed securities (ABS).
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in asset-based or structured credit roles.
- CPA/CFA designation preferred.
- Experience with audit or valuation firms and strong valuation modeling skills.
- Prior trading experience with asset-based securities is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet and financial modeling.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
