Director of Business Development - Cross Border Payments
We are partnered with a leading global payments firm that is seeking a Director of Business Development to join their team in the San Francisco Bay Area in a hybrid model. Candidates must have experience in Cross-Border payments.
Job Description
- Engage with a diverse range of merchants in the US to proactively identify, prospect, develop, and close key merchant accounts, taking ownership of the entire sales process.
- Consistently secure new key accounts and drive revenue through effective pipeline management, ensuring timely closure of agreements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs, representing the company at industry trade shows, conferences, sales meetings, and networking events.
- Collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to manage customer and internal expectations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with all supporting departments, including close cooperation with technical implementation and product teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
- Network and consult with prospective clients, establishing and managing relationships with C-level executives and identifying key decision-makers in the sales process.
- Manage your sales pipeline using Salesforce, providing ongoing, accurate forecasting.
- Negotiate key client terms in alignment with internal implementation and delivery resources.
- Work closely with the Merchant Service team to ensure rapid and seamless client onboarding while maintaining an excellent client experience.
Job Requirements
- Strong networking skills with an active C-level network among international trade merchants in the US
- 7+ years of sales experience in Finance/Technology, ideally with a background in payments, virtual accounts, or FX.
- Proven track record of delivering complex integrated sales valued at $100k or more.
- Relentless new business hunter with a history of exceptional over achievement.
- Strategic thinker with innovative approaches to potential verticals and target markets. Ability to adapt and lead through fast-paced, high-growth, uncertain environments and complex sales cycles.
- Knowledge of consultative/solution sales processes, including effective techniques and experience with the "Challenger" approach, developing client-specific sales strategies, request analysis, buyer profiling, competitive landscape assessment, and risk assessment to address critical business issues.
- Experience in independently identifying, influencing, negotiating, structuring, and closing strategic/high-revenue impact enterprise solutions, including those requiring deep sales and product integrations.
- Extensive experience in developing and maintaining global, culturally complex, and long-term client relationships that drive sustained results.
