Position: Senior General Liability Underwriter

My Client is a Managing General Agent (MGA) launched to deliver innovative P&C insurance products to the marketplace.
They have been growing rapidly over the past two years and have recently launched an Excess Casualty Program. They are seeking top talent to join them in building this new product by harnessing the power of innovative approaches. This is an opportunity to be on the ground floor of building a book of business with the innovation and flexibility of a Wholesale Market, supported by the resources of an established carrier - including insurance companies, operational support teams, claims, actuarial services, and more. Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of General Liability non-admitted insurance underwriting experience working with wholesale brokers.
- Bachelor's degree and/or relevant industry designations/industry experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Support agents/brokers with placing Excess & Surplus (E&S) Primary General Liability insurance coverage.
- Meticulously evaluate and analyze risks for acceptability based on underwriting guidelines and individual risk characteristics.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with agents/brokers.
- Manage a profitable book of E&S General Liability business including review of new business, renewal business, and mid-term endorsements.
- Execute on deliverables for quoting/binding profitable business based on established KPIs.
- Operate within a defined authority statement.
- Exercise sound underwriting judgment as it relates to pricing, forms, applications, deductibles, etc.
- Work independently with limited support and sporadically refer business to the VP of Underwriting.
- Mentor and develop junior level underwriters.
- Travel as required to attend industry events, professional development, company-sponsored events, and marketing visits.
